On May 29 and 30 the entrepreneurship bootcamp organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala was carried out, which was facilitated by Pomona AgTech and sponsored by Heifer International Guatemala. The bootcamp was held in the M6 building of the University City in zone 12 of Guatemala City.
This bootcamp had the purpose of being a kind of "educational award" for the students who presented outstanding performance during the entrepreneurship course that was taught by Lic. Axel Godoy from January to May. In this subject, the students received entrepreneurship foundations and at the end of the classes they presented their entrepreneurship projects in a fair called EMPRENDE USAC. The best qualified projects were selected for the USAC-FMVZ Bootcamp 2019, in which they received tools to deepen the solidity of their business models. There were six selected ventures, each with enthusiastic members and interesting business ideas that were evaluated by a panel of judges to select the best business model. The winning venture was HIVES, from Miss Sayra Pérez, who is producing artisan honey to market it in zone 1 of the capital city.
The bootcamp was made possible thanks to the excellent support of the faculty of the FMVZ and the sponsorship of Heifer International Guatemala. Heifer contributed the seed capital of GTQ 7500 that Ms. Pérez will use to improve the image of her enterprise and make it grow.
